Without the ocean, waves cease to exist.
You felt like my ocean.
It always felt we were meant to be as one.
Part of the same whole.
I was like the wave
that always went back from the shore
went back to you,
high tide or low.
I built castles ... really big castles.
I just never realized that I was building them alone.
I stand helplessly as the ocean
as you ... mercilessly dissolve
what I thought we built together.
The tighter I hold on to the sand
the more it trickles out through my fingers
it makes me understand its how you slipped away.
Our memories are like the shells going into sea.
I cannot collect
all the beautiful shells in the sea
but I try.
I seek answers to the questions.
Sound of the waves converse with me.
Each wave that touches my feet grounds me.
My salty tears
become part of the sea
as I re-live the pain.
On some days I find myself in too deep
it feels like I’m getting sucked into the ocean,
on others, the waves caress me comfortingly.
As I look out into the horizon,
I see absolutely nothing.
Much like the future that awaits me.
